There are thousands of primitive campsites around the U.S. that are maintained by State agencies, these sites offer remote destinations to adventurers looking to venture into the wilderness.
bivvy wants to make it easier to find these sites, plan backcountry outings and ease the worries of less experienced backcountry campers.
By offering insight and tips on primitive camping locations, submitted by fellow backcountry adventurers we hope to achieve the goal of sharing as well as helping others interested in the joys of primitive camping.
bivvy came about after noticing the difficulty in finding information about wild/primitive camping locations, though numerous forums exist it was always tough trying to dig through these sites in order to find the information I was searching for. In July of 2015, a friend and I thought of an idea to gather primitive camping locations and information and host the data collected in one central location. The idea for bivvy was created. As we reach the first year since the development of our idea, building bivvy has proved to be an exciting adventure in itself. As we encounter functionality that will enhance the users experience in finding and sharing information from their adventures in the wilderness, our excitement grows, as does our love for exploring and sharing every piece of information we gather from the outdoors.
We hope that you will find this website useful and look forward to your contributions.
